Notes:-

  • With Royal Paladin, it is a lot more easier to build a full High Beast deck, and not being tied down to a namesake such as Liberators gives players a lot of freedom to build the deck how they want to, but such a thing is a double-edged sword. You do need to make sure you have a focus on what your deck is going to play like. Garmore isn’t an ideal unit to be sitting on, due to his 10000 Power base, so you do need to prepare a plan B in the deck.
  • In my case, plan B is Sanctuary Guard Arc. Given that Garmore plays on calling Snogal, Snogal complements the style of Sanctuary Guard Arc, and vice versa. Once you are ready to switch back to plan A, which is Garmore, you should have a strong field that can hit hard and will hit harder after using Gleaming Fang Garmore’s skill.
  • Some of the more helpful High Beasts present in Royal Paladin comes with good skills that activate on Brave, such as Sarugal, Scramble Griffin and Shyngal. Again, you can choose your Plan B to be anything from Altmile to Blaster to even Sanctuary of Light, so if you decide to support your High Beasts with Brave abilities, it is just as viable.
  • In the case of my deck, the Brave abilities will help out in low hand situations, both offensive and defensive.
    • Offensively, with Garmore’s skill of needing to drop a card to call out a Snogal, it helps to bring that hand down to make it easier to activate Brave abilities during your turn, such as with Sarugal or Shyngal.
    • Defensively, when you’ve used up your hand to guard your opponent’s attack, Scramble Griffin helps with giving you a strong defense for one attack. With units like that, you definitely want them protected from attacks, so Tamamy helps with making sure that they stay in the back row, while still contributing to the attacking turn.
  • Royal Paladin got very lucky that they have a Perfect Guard that is a High Beast, so it’s not impossible to have a full High Beast deck. Just be sure to keep yourself open to adding some important non-High Beast units into the deck, if you really need it, such as Stride fodders or a more useful Perfect Guard. A full count is perfect, but you really can settle for a high count, if needed.
  • Overall, the Garmore deck is a super fun deck to play. You will have a ton of fun checking that top 6 for High Beasts, and when it comes down to the wire, where it may be make or break, the suspense is exhilarating, in my opinion. So do give it a chance, if you can or are on the fence about building it.

First Vanguard
Resurgent Knight, Stius

Triggers:-
4 Bringer of Dreams, Belenus (Critical)
4 Encourage Angel (Stand)
4 Sarugal (Stand)
4 Yggdrasil Maiden, Elaine (Heal)

Grade 1s:-
3 Headwind Knight, Selim
1 Knight of Powercharge
3 Laurel Knight, Sicilus
1 Scouting Owl
2 Soniccgal
2 Hope Keeper (Sentinel-PG)
2 Security Knight, Regius (Sentinel-PG)

Grade 2s:-
3 Counteroffensive Knight, Suleiman
2 Escort Eagle
2 Hopesong Angel
2 Knight of Ambuscade, Redon
2 Sage of Salvation, Benon

Grade 3s:-
4 Blue Sky Knight, Altmile
3 Knight of Heavenly Decree, Altmile
1 Knight of Mastery, Glenus

Strides and G Guardians:-
4 Aerial Divine Knight, Altmile
3 Blazing Sword, Fides
1 Divine Knight of Lore, Selfes
2 Holy Dragon, Brave Lancer Dragon
2 Transcending the Heavens, Altmile
1 Holy Dragon, Laserguard Dragon (G-Guardian)
1 Vivid Sacred Staff, Andragius (G-Guardian)
1 Dark Element, Dizmel (G-Guardian)
1 Divine Knight of Godly Defense, Igraine (G-Guardian)

Notes:-

  • This deck is an Altmile deck that fuses both the old and new cards Royal Paladins have. Overall, the build can allow you to start rushing your opponent, if you have Hopesong Angel in hand to ride or call. Thanks to his ability, he can call out even a Grade 3 unit, as long as it has the Brave ability. So you can potentially catch your opponent off-guard and swarm the board. Come later in the game, the strategy changes to hitting multiple times with semi-powerful units, finishing off with units like Transcending the Heavens, Altmile, or the new Holy Dragon, Brave Lancer Dragon.
  • A few key cards I would like to highlight are the following:-
    • Sage of Salvation, Benon
      • His main purpose is to call out Knight of Powercharge or Hope Keeper, depending on the situation.
    • Hope Keeper or Security Knight, Regius
      • Both their abilities are great to have for various purposes. Hope Keeper to have an additional booster and bounce back on Brave, while Regius is helpful on Brave. So why not?
    • Hopesong Angel
      • His ability to call ANY Brave unit is an impeccable skill, especially ones that you need most for the moment, like Soniccgal or Hope Keeper.
    • Sarugal and Encourage Angel
      • These two units can be sent back to the deck, making trigger checks more likely. Encourage Angel gives Power to two units, while Sarugal gets a draw.
  • Between the 2 Altmiles, I much prefer Blue Sky Knight, Altmile because of his flat 5000 Power boost to two units. Knight of Heavenly Decree, Altmile split that skill into 2 parts. Start of turn and Stride skill and plus 4000 Power. But at least the unit called at the start of the turn can be done, even if your opponent is sitting on Grade 2.
  • A combo I can highlight is with Knight of Powercharge and Brave Lancer Dragon. Because of Brave Lancer’s skill, where you need to drop a card for every unit called from his skill. Knight of Powercharge can help you drop all of your current hand to the bottom of the deck, you don’t lose any useful cards to Brave Lancer’s skill.
  • And of course, an easy +8000 Power 3 turn stride combo is to first stride to Blazing Sword, Fides and flip Aerial Divine Knight, Altmile, then stride to Aerial Altmile and flip himself, and finally stride to Transcending the Heavens, Altmile and flip the last copy of Aerial Altmile.

First Vanguard
Guidepost Sage, Elron

Triggers:-
4 Floral Paladin, Flogal (Critical)
4 Psion Rider (Critical)
2 Encourage Angel (Stand)
2 Gliding Eagle (Draw)
4 Refresh Healer (Heal)

1 Enhancement Sage, Libron
1 Laurel Knight, Sicilus
1 Swordsman of Light, Blaster Rapier Laura
2 Sharpness Knight, Paris
3 Swordsman of Light, Junos
3 Holy Knight Guardian (Sentinel-PG)
1 Hope Keeper (Sentinel-PG)

Grade 2s:-
1 Energetic Knight, Romus
1 Blaster Blade Seeker
3 Swordsman of Light, Ahmes
4 Blaster Blade

Grade 3s:-
1 King’s Adjutant Knight, Galehaut

4 King of Knights’ Light Manifest, Alfred Oath

Strides and G Guardians:-
2 Holy Dragon, Legit Sword Dragon
1 Divine Knight of Flashing Flame, Samuel
1 Great Sage of Contradiction, Jirron
4 Aerial Divine Knight, Altmile
4 Transmigratory Dragon, Holy Squire Dragon
2 Vivid Sacred Staff, Andragius (G-Guardian)
2 Holy Dragon, Laserguard Dragon (G-Guardian)

Notes:-

  • Initially, this build was based on the Vanguard G Comic Booster cards but with the new support from the new G Character booster, the old King of Knights, Alfred was swapped out for King of Knights’ Light Manifest, Alfred Oath. Reasons being Alfred Oath can be boosted and helps to superior call units from the deck upon riding.
  • Swordsman of Light, Junos & Swordsman of Light, Ahmes are important in the deck as they work very well with “Alfred” as the Vanguard or strides that require a unit with “Alfred” in its name as a heart card. Blaster Blade & Blaster Blade Spirit are also key cards in the deck as they would be useful in clearing front row units that might pose a threat to you.
  • New critical triggers such as Psion Rider also help the deck in alleviating the heavy cost of unit effects with its Countercharge. Just be aware that you need to be at a Grade 3 “Alfred” Vanguard to use his Countercharge.
  • Putting in Light Source Seeker, Alfred Exiv in the deck ensures that my Vanguard is still a unit with “Alfred” in its name. It keeps the heart name that strides need for “Alfred”, and add the option to Legion with Blaster Blade or Blaster Blade Seeker later in the game.
  • New strides such as Holy Dragon, Legit Sword Dragon from G-CHB01 boosted the Alfred archetype with more synergy, as there is the option now to choose either units with “Blaster” or “Swordsman of Light” to be superior called from the deck, on top of gaining power when called out.
  • Overall, the deck has received a good support from G-CHB01 be it for the old or new units.

Cardfight #72: G-TD11 Royal Paladin Trial Deck Profile

Hey, fighters!

Cardfight #72 sees us pit the new Royal Paladin G-TD11 Trial Deck against the new Neo Nectar G-TD12 Trial Deck. You can check the video above to see the bout, but if you’re interested in seeing the Royal Paladin deck profile, we have it in this post.

First Vanguard
Knight of Discipline, Alectos

Triggers:-
Severe Hit Knight, Gulgites (Critical)
Explosive Knight, Gredaukus (Stand)
2 Adamant Amplification Warlock (Draw)
2 Gliding Eagle (Draw)
4 Knight of Pretty Sword (Heal)

Grade 1s:-
Support Warlock of Damascus
Loyal Knight, Diotus
4 Knight of Tomahawk
4 Wallgal (Sentinel-PG)

Grade 2s:-
Aashgal
Flying Swallow Knight, Claus
Straightforward Knight, Carasius
Tough Knight, Baldus

Grade 3s:-
4 Distinct Knight, Contianus
Blue Sky Knight, Altmile
Devout Falx Dragon

Strides and G Guardians:-
2 Divine Knight of Lore, Selfes

Notes:-

  • Whether you count it as Royal Paladins “coming full circle” or “going back to square one”, this new Trial deck focused more on calling units with the Brave ability, as well as activating the Brave ability. Selfes is good in activating Brave for your other units, which also makes him quite a good first Stride in any Brave Royal Paladin deck, this one or older.
  • However, there is a slight problem with the trial deck as it is. You do need to have units out that has the Brave ability to even make full use of Selfes. As you can see in the video, 5ooo Power may be reason enough to pop his skill, but when I saw that there wasn’t any units on the field at that time to take advantage of the low hand size, it made much less sense to use it. And that is kind of the idea.
  • The reason why is because, in this deck, it plays towards high power and multiple calling. Though not as much as a fully constructed Royal Paladin deck, but when the cards are right, you can attack 4 times in a turn. But that leads to another thing the deck lacks. A reliable amount of units with the Brave ability to call out. However, this lacking part is easily fixed with boost from the TRY3 NEXT booster or the older cards.
  • It’s hard to do, but when you play this deck, it’s hard to shake off the old playstyle of Altmile, which is superior calling Grade 2s from the deck. As you can see, most units you can call with Carasius’ skill is Grade 1. So you may actually need to plan to call boosters, rather than attackers.
  • But overall, Royal Paladins have taken a new or familiar playstyle, and it is a fun deck to play on its own. But once it gets its boost, including the new Knight of Heavenly Decree, Altmile, it can go much further than it has right now.

Notes:-

  • Understandably, while it isn’t the top build for Altmile, it is nonetheless a very flexible deck that can potentially fill all your rear-gurards in an instant. The thought process behind this build was to have Altmile call out Garmore, who will then call out Snogal. With the cost needed for Garmore to discard a card, it also helps feed for Brave in a natural way. That is the idea.
  • Running into destruction-based decks like Narukami and Kagero, it is expected that maintaining 2 to 3 Snogals is impossible. Battlesong Angel is the backup for Snogals, with her innate Resist ability. The only problem is trying to fish her out of the deck, which is hard to do. But with some thought and luck, you can use Bouquet Paros to help out with that. Bouquet Paros also can fish for Snogals, if needed.
  • Striding may be the best way to attack your opponent, thanks to its vast versatility, but with the low count of Sicilus, on top of below average count of Grade 3s, it’s a recipe for “you gonna have a bad time”. But as long as you can hit GB2, Altmile’s skill will be helpful in your times outside of striding.
  • This unorthodox, but versatile build of Altmile has its joyous and cringe-worthy moments. But it is purposely built for the flexibility to full-field your opponent and overwhelm him with a combination of Brave, Altmile and Garmore. While not the best build out there, it is a fun one, nonetheless. Feel free to experiment as and how you like and give it a shot once in a while.
