1 Conquering Supreme Dragon, Voltechzapper Dragon
2 Lightning King Spirit Emperor, Vritra (G-Guardian)
2 Sky Guardian Supreme Dragon, Bulwark Dragon (G-Guardian)

Notes:-

  • The deck may not seem like there’s much of a change from previous builds of Vanquisher. That’s because the new boosts from G-BT09 didn’t really add all that much to the deck. Cards like Chain-bolt Dragoon is still a staple, because of his ability to add one more additional bind after you’ve retired a unit, which in turn supports “VOLTAGE”‘s GB3 skill.
  • But the thing about the new boost is that while they don’t add anything new fundamentally, they do give the deck some new toys to play with. VMAX provides a nice reward for you for clearing up his rear-guards and/or a dangerous threat to an opponent who tries to play an empty field against you. Trainee Monk also helps to let your Vanguard attack additional targets, and Martial Arts Dragon is a rewarding card to ride up if your opponent plays a rush style.
  • Speaking of those that plays an empty field against you, this is the main reason why the deck build doesn’t drastically change. A lot of support for Vanquisher that  helps you build up your Thunderstrikes require that you retire a unit and then bind that unit, which is very annoying, as it can stop you right in your tracks. Not being able to stack up your Thunderstrikes means that guarding with Bulwark Dragon useless, “VOLTAGE” not getting enough power from the Bind zone to become even remotely threatening, and the list goes on.
  • My way around it is the multiple copies of Wildrun Dragoon, as it is one of few cards in Narukami that Vanquisher decks can use without needing to retire. They may choose to play an empty field, but there should always be a time when they have cards in their drop zone for Wildrun Dragoon to bind. It helps Vanquisher a lot, as achieving the Thunderstrikes you need for cards like Bulwark Dragon becomes easier. This doesn’t save the deck, but it does alleviate a lot of the limitations Vanquisher faces, and I can only hope that future boosts for Vanquisher refocuses on being able to shoot the Thunderstrikes without requiring that you don’t have to retire an opponent’s rear-guard first.
  • In terms of play, while it is beneficial to have all 4 “VOLTAGE”s face up in order to make it easier for “VMAX” to activate his Thunderstrike 5. But In this build, the one that will kill better than “VMAX” is “VOLTAGE” himself. As mentioned, Chain-bolt Dragoon is a staple card, because he helps make your field hit like fully loaded trucks. Units like Voltage Horn Dragon, Rockclimb Dragoon, Vanquisher’s Stride skill and even Voltechzapper Dragon covers your empty field needs for VMAX, but if your opponent isn’t set up to be forced to take his 6th damage, the direction to go now is towards power with “VOLTAGE”. 25 cards in the bind is my highest record. Just imagine a dinky Voltage Horn Dragon now hitting for 84000 Power on his own.

2 Sky Guardian Supreme Dragon, Bulwark Dragon (G-Guardian)

Notes:-

  • As mentioned, this deck was my most recent purchase at the time of the video. This is your typical build for a Big Bang Knuckle build, albeit swapping out the triggers from a 12 Critical deck to a 8 Critical-4 Draw deck. Mainly because the original seller and I want friends.
  • The combo is simple. Have a Big Bang Knuckle Vanguard, with Big Bang Slash Buster at the side and start attacking as many targets as you can to power up Big Bang Slash Buster and any other units that benefits from the hit or rear-guards getting put to the drop zone.
  • I haven’t has a chance to mod this deck yet, as it is something that is not yet suited for me. I’m a strong believer that you answer to the deck and not the other way around. So until we feature this deck again, I’m afraid I don’t have much to comment about it just yet.
  • But the one thing I can say is this. if you know the kind of person I am, you would know that I was meant to play this deck. Because only with this deck can I go out with a BIG YANG!!!!

3 Lightning King Spirit Emperor, Vritra (G-Guardian)
1 Sky Guardian Supreme Dragon, Bluwerke Dragon (G-Guardian)

Notes:-

  • This deck only knows one thing. Hitting your opponent hard and restanding to power up your rear-guards. The old Dragonic Descendant deck is revived up to the G format with Zillion, but with it, some of the same old problems return back.
  • Take for instance, the defining feature of Descendant, which its ability to restand, is also it’s most defining weakness. It’s a skill made useless when your opponent lets you hit on its first attack, so it makes you rely on Strides first until the right timing for either Descendant or Zillion to come out. It is something that, if Descendant had been boosted closer to when it was released, would be great for the deck.
  • But let’s talk some positives now. Even though the boost for this deck came as late as it did, it is still a very good boost. Lightning Phoenix and the new Grade 1 Seiobo makes the deck more of a powerhouse than before. And while it may look Counterblast-heavy, remember that you do not need to use all of their skills. Run the numbers for that magic number.
  • Even if it is Counterblast-heavy, the deck has ways to recover Counterblasts, through the Grade 2 Zuitan and the new Strike Slasher Dragon. The latter is a good support for Descendant, given that its two abilities favor the two states of a Descendant attack, on hit and on miss. Zuitan may be an old card, but any Countercharging the deck can do will help Descendant. That and good Counterblast control.
  • All in all, Descendant is fun to play again with the new boosts it has. Combine that with what the rest of the G-BT09 set releases for Narukami and Descendant became fun again. Just remember that to use your G-Guardians abilities, you do need to fit in ways to bind your opponent’s cards, so that you can at least get a Thunderstrike 1 for Vritra.

Booster Pack: G Booster Set 9: Divine Dragon Caper (VG-G-BT09)

Hey, fighters!

We’re back again with another “Booster Pack” blog post. These blog posts are the supplementary blog posts for our unboxing videos of Cardfight!! Vanguard sets.(BT, EB, CB, TB, CHB and what not-B).

This post will cover every RR and above card we missed out on in our unboxing video for the G-BT09: Divine Dragon Caper. You can check the video above to see what we opened up in our box of G-BT09.

Just to update in terms of the discussions. While we would like to try our best in replicating the video experience on this blog, we found that we are not able to consistently deliver on the discussions part of this blog that this Booster Pack has.

Rather than try and deliver what could potentially be sub-par commentary about the clan and deck builds the release has to offer, we find that it will be best that we drop the discussions part entirely until we are able to ensure they are up to our standards and deliver quality commentary as consistently as we want them to be.

With that said, let’s continue.

Take note that this build is one that is used for this cardfight. Changes may have been already made at this point in time by the owner. You are welcome to learn from this deck profile if you are looking to build one, but we highly encourage you to build yours to fit you.

Grade 4s:-
1 Rain Element, Madew
2 True Brawler, Big Bang Knuckle Turbo
1 True Eradicator, Finish Blow Dragon
2 Conquering Supreme Dragon, Conquest Dragon

Notes:-

  • This deck focuses on controlling the opponent’s field via retiring and Big Bang Knuckle Turbo’s skill. All the while retaining its aggression with units like Chatura and Big Bang Slash Buster for on-hit threats.
  • Maximising Skyhowl Dragon to 4 in the deck helps to control early rushes as its cheap Counterblast cost makes it viable from early to late game. Its skill also complements units like Finish Blow Dragon and Conquest Dragon very well.
  • Unlike many typical Brawler decks, this deck plays 12 criticals simply because you can easily stride up, even if you are missing a Big Bang Knuckle unit for Big Bang Knuckle Buster’s skill cost. 4 Mighty Bolt Dragoons sees to that, so that you aren’t absolutely forced to rely on the legion skill to control an opponent’s field.
  • Overall, this deck is one of the most flexible and has the best synergy with the wide spread of strides Narukami has available. The only problem is that this deck has a slow setup, making it vulnerable to faster decks like Royal Paladin. Even so, the deck should not be underestimated as it packs a powerful punch with Big Bang Knuckle Turbo’s skill being a Counterblast 1 to kill 3 units per heart, even if it was used as a first stride without being in Legion first.
