Cardfight #94: JJ’s Zodiac Time Beast Gear Chronicle Deck Profile

Hey, Rear-guards!

Cardfight #94 sees us pit JJ’s Zodiac Time Beast Gear Chronicle deck against ZaCaptain’s Harri Pale Moon deck. You can check the video above to see the bout, but if you’re interested in seeing the Zodiac Time Beast deck profile, we have it in this post.

If you want to check out what’s in the Harri deck, click here.

Take note that this build is one that is used for this cardfight. Changes may have been already made at this point in time by the owner. You are welcome to learn from this deck profile, if you are looking to build one, but we highly encourage you to build yours to fit you.

First Vanguard:-
Chrono Dran G

Triggers:-
3 Pulsar, Rush Boar (Critical)
3 Chronovolley Rabbit (Critical)
2 Pulsar, Hypnosis Sheep (Stand)
2 Chronotimer Leghorn (Stand)
2 Chronodoze Sheep (Draw)
4 Chronotherapy Hamster (Heal)

Grade 1s:-
2 Chronocharge Unicorn
2 Chronodash Peccary
2 Chronoethos Jackal
2 Pulsar Tamer, Nepada
4 Steam Tamer, Arka (Sentinel-PG)

Grade 2s:-
3 Chronobeat Buffalo
2 Chronoclaw Monkey
2 Chronospin Serpent
3 Pulsar, Farm Peacock
2 Pulsar, Speedy Bunny

Grade 3s:-
3 Chronofang Tiger
2 Chronofang Tiger G
4 Chronojet Dragon G

Strides and G Guardians:-
2 Chronodragon Nextage
2 Chronotiger Rebellion
1 Deus Ex Machina, Demiurge
4 Metapulsar, Altered Dragon
4 Metapulsar, Split Pegasus
3 Interdimensional Beast, Pandora Chimera (G-Guardian)

Notes:-

  • So this is the Zodiac Time Beast style of Demiurge. Instead of binding through the use of Gear Colossus, this deck is made of Zodiac Time Beasts entirely.
  • Ideally, you want to ride to Chronojet Dragon G to abuse his on-Stride skill to filter out the deck, while binding what you need to bind through Altered Dragon. Alternatively, if you are in need of pressure from the Rear-guards, you can easily switch to Split Pegasus to reinforce your field instead.
  • Chronofang Tiger is really there in the event that you ride into him. After the first Altered Dragon or Split Pegasus, his GB2 skill is great in case you have nothing to stride with.
  • The key to the deck is to be patient and be very careful in what you bind so that you have at least 12 Zodiac Time Beasts with different names. That being said, don’t be so eager to use Demiurge unless you are sure you can stave off the attacks coming your way and finishing off your opponent after.
  • With the prevalence of G Guardians, Demiurge is played not as a win condition in itself, but rather as the key to setting up for future turns. In fact, this deck has 3 different finishers provided. Chronodragon Nextage, Chronotiger Rebellion and Metapulsar, Altered Dragon. Personally, Nextage is my key finisher due to its restand ability, on top of Chronojet Dragon G’s skill, making it easily swing for 31000 to 36000 Power by himself. That’s not counting the rear-guards getting 4000-5000 Power boosts. That makes it quite nasty after a Demiurge turn.
  • Rebellion is pretty self explanatory. Whether it be before or a turn or two after Demiurge, it is the quadruple drive and extra critical that is the main thing.
  • If you go by the Altered Dragon route, it’s ability to gain 2000 Power for each card in the bind zone makes for an increasingly bigger Vanguard after every turn. Assuming you hit the 4th Altered Dragon, it is quite possible to have it at a mininal 50000 Power.
  • With all of that said, have fun trying this build, if you enjoy my concept of it, and all the best to your perfect future!

Notes:-

  • At first glance, you may see the various amount of units in this deck build. I built my Zodiac Time Beast deck this way because I want to be able to adapt to any situation. The main strategy of the deck is to get as many strides face up to bring up Chronojet Dragon G and the front row Zodiac Time Beasts to PG-only levels of power, whilst everything else exists in the deck to adapt to any opponent.
  • As earlier mentioned, Chronojet Dragon G is the main Ace of the deck with his skill to power up from every 2 face up cards in the G Zone. Chronojet Dragon is there to give me access to using Crossover Dragon, which in turn adds a lot of on-hit threat to the deck. And because the deck does not play that much around sending opponents’ units to the bottom of the deck, Chronofang Tiger G helps with that, in case I need to get rid of a particularly pesky rear-guard.
  • I could absolutely max out the number of Lugal-ures in the deck, but because of the reasons in the first point, I kept him down to 2. Ideally, I would Lugal-ures flanking both sides of the Vanguard circle to make every column attack count. And with its ability to Time Leap on a Grade 3 ZTB check, I can increase my attack by one more.
  • Farm Peacock is really helpful, because it is immune to being sent to the bottom of the deck by skills like Split Pegasus when he is Time Leaped out. Chronobeat Buffalo is always a welcome addition to the deck, thanks to his constant 11000 Power (as long as you ride up to a ZTB Vanguard).
  • Tick-away Dragon is very helpful in filtering your deck. Whenever you Time Leap, you can send a card back to the bottom of the deck and it’s not [1/Turn] too. With the restriction on Ur-Watar in place currently, Tick-away Dragon is helpful in circumventing the restrictions, regardless of how efficient it is compared to before.
  • One thing that this deck does need is an increase in the number of Zodiac Time Beasts. Chronojet Dragon G and Split Pegasus only targets Zodiac Time Beasts, so if future releases of Gear Chronicle provides more Zodiac Time Beasts, this deck would be tremendously boosted by them.
  • Some of you may cry about Chronodragon Gear Groovy not being in the G Zone. To which I must point out that I don’t have space for him or a decent amount of Gear Dragons with AUTO abilities for him to take up.
  • But this deck does have its flaws. You need to keep track of which units’ skills can activate from. Units like Hypnosis Sheep requires to be called from hand to activate, whereas units like Farm Peacock needs to be placed from the deck. Not only that, but the deck is also Counterblast heavy and Arlim doesn’t quite help with Countercharging that much. So learning to control your Counterblasts will be key.
  • Overall, despite the flaws, the deck is playable, fun and is awaiting future boosts for more fun.

1 Highbrow Steam, Raphanna (G-Guardian)
1 Interdimensional Beast, Pandora Chimera (G-Guardian)

Notes:-

  • The Legion deck is, to put it nicely, unique. The support a Gear Chronicle Legion deck was given in G-CB04 was an odd addition to the deck, but we have it here nonetheless. (Any further comments deserve their own “Grind My Rear-Guards” episode)
  • And the verdict we have with this Legion deck is that it is surprisingly fun. Whenever you want a cheap deck, or just want to have fun with chance in Vanguard, the Legion deck adds a nice amount of suspense in every play you make.
  • Slow Divider Dragon would be your ideal ride up, thanks to his on-ride ability. You have the chance to add one card to your hand, if both units you sent from the top of the deck to the drop zone are of the same grade. Otherwise, it helps to pay for Legion cost. Rightfully so, as both Slow Divider Dragon and Ruin Disposal Dragon has on-Legion abilities. Slow Divider’s on-Legion is better, as you can add a card in your hand, while simultaneously sending your opponent’s unit back to the bottom of his/her deck. It adds an element of strategy to it.
  • With the theme of this particular cardfight being Mystery-flare Dragon against Sage-saint Professor, Bigbelly, you would think that this deck would be built to maximize the ability to activate Mystery-flare’s skill with ease by balancing out between the Grade 1s, 2s and 3s. While you are free to do so, note that with abilities like performing Legion and G-Guardians Uluru and Raphanna, you can perform pseudo deck filtering to send back Grade 3s to increase your chance to proc Mystery-flare Dragon.
  • The reason why we are able to play Mystery-flare in this deck is because it has not a lot of units that uses Counterblasts, and units that does a good amount of Counter Charging too, such as Trumpeting Worker.
  • Lastly, while you may end up with a lot of soul to work with, it is all for Puzur-Ili’s use. When you know you can catch your opponent, popping his ability to stop your opponent from calling Grade 0s puts the cherry on top of this deck. Just be sure to take note of how many Puzur-Ilis you have, as both Slow Divider Dragon and Ruin Disposal Dragon’s Legion Mate is Puzur-Ili.

Cardfight #70: Leon’s Legion Gear Chronicle Deck Profile

Booster Pack: G Booster Set 9: Divine Dragon Caper (VG-G-BT09)

Hey, fighters!

We’re back again with another “Booster Pack” blog post. These blog posts are the supplementary blog posts for our unboxing videos of Cardfight!! Vanguard sets.(BT, EB, CB, TB, CHB and what not-B).

This post will cover every RR and above card we missed out on in our unboxing video for the G-BT09: Divine Dragon Caper. You can check the video above to see what we opened up in our box of G-BT09.

Just to update in terms of the discussions. While we would like to try our best in replicating the video experience on this blog, we found that we are not able to consistently deliver on the discussions part of this blog that this Booster Pack has.

Rather than try and deliver what could potentially be sub-par commentary about the clan and deck builds the release has to offer, we find that it will be best that we drop the discussions part entirely until we are able to ensure they are up to our standards and deliver quality commentary as consistently as we want them to be.

With that said, let’s continue.

Notes:-

  • The Idea Drone deck, to say the least, is a little tricky to build and use. I tried to follow the recommended recipe printed on the papers in the Clan Booster, but like what we always say about deck profiles, I managed to use that as a base and made adjustments to the deck to better fit my style. What you see here is the end result of that, so hopefully with this deck profile, I pay it forward to you guys, so that you can learn from it and build it to your style of play.
  • In any case, this deck focuses on speed binding. The faster the cards goes in the bind zone, the better it will be later in the game, but of course, the ideal units to bind would be Zodiac Time Beast units.
  • Diaperno is a pretty interesting card but it is way too important to remove from the deck as it works a double binder at the end phase. At the same time, it is a high powered defender against Vanguard attacks.
  • As strong Prospatheia Idea-drone looks on paper, things will get very hairy quickly. When it does, don’t hesitate to switch to Chronofang Tiger as soon as you can. Demiurge is a fantastic finish to use, but against an opponent who knows what you are doing, it’s best to give up on that strategy and try to end the game with Rebellion. The mass bindings that you have done so far will help feed Rebellion’s CONT skill, making that quad drive with double critical much more painful to guard for your opponent. Sticking to Prospatheia for the long haul may not last you until the end of the game. So, always prepare a Plan B.
  • The cons that this deck has is that things can get out of hand pretty quickly, if you have bad RNG. Once you can’t get the right cards in the bind zone, the right units called using Chanomai Idea-drone (this card asks that you bind 2 units from the 5 you called BEFORE the end step), you are a sitting duck with a hunter’s crosshairs in your sights.
  • But despite all that, the set is pretty interesting nevertheless, why not give it a try yourself? With the release of Metapulsar, Altered Dragon, there is no way else this deck can go but up.

Cardfight #67: Leon’s Idea-drone Gear Chronicle Deck Profile

Cardfight #61: The G-TD09 Gear Chronicle Deck Profile

Hey, fighters!

First Vanguard
Chrono Dran G

Triggers:-
4 Chronovolley Rabbit (Critical)
4 Chronotimer Leghorn (Stand)
2 Chronodoze Sheep (Draw)
2 Luckypot Dracokid (Draw)
4 Chronotherapy Hamster (Heal)

Grade 1s:-
4 Chronodash Peccary
4 Chronoethos Jackal
3 Steam Sniper, Lishma
2 Chronocharge Unicorn
2 Repel-circuit Dragon (Sentinel)

Grade 2s:-
4 Chronobeat Buffalo
2 Chronoclaw Monkey
2 Chronospin Serpent
2 Striking Fist Colossus

Grade 3s:-
4 Steam Maiden, Imi
2 Chronofang Tiger G
2 Chronojet Dragon G

Strides and G Guardians:-
2 Metapulsar, Huang-long

Notes:-

  • As with most Trial decks, it does what it sets out to do, where it introduces a new play of the clan in question. With the G-TD09, Gear Chronicle gains a new playstyle around the Zodiac Time Beasts race, with Chronojet Dragon G’s first skill that powers up all the Zodiac Time Beasts. It is what I like to call a non-traditional GB2 skill, whereby it doesn’t have GB2, but a continuous skill that gives himself 5000 Power and other Zodiac Time Beast rear-guards 1000 Power for every two cards face up in the G Zone.
  • There is not a lot of focus towards Time Leaping in this deck, but for the most part, the ones they provided in this deck, through Chronojet Dragon G’s stride skill and Lishma’s skill, keeps it familiar for those that are used to Time Leap. You can even take apart this deck and bring these units into a Time Leap-centric deck. Lishma’s second skill, letting you draw when she comes back to the rear-guard circle from the bind zone, is excellent, if you have the Counterblasts to afford it. And Chronojet Dragon G’s stride skill will let you call out a unit from your hand before you choose a rear-guard to Time Leap. If you haven’t had a chance to set your field up for Time Leaping, he provides that on-stride chance to.
  • Strictly sticking to this deck build, the aim here is to get your Zodiac Time Beasts out on the field, as you get two G Units face up in the G Zone. Then, you will power up your Zodiac Time Beasts and Chronojet Dragon G and hit hard on your opponent, using Lishma to Time Leap herself and potentially increase the number of attacks you can do, and Chronofang Tiger G for debilitating your opponent’s field. There’s not a lot going on for it, but as a base, it’s a stable deck.
  • If there’s something I must warn about with this deck, it is Steam Maiden, Imi. Note that when it comes to skills, they must be fully resolved before you can resolve another skill. If you were to call Imi using Chronojet Dragon G’s skill, you cannot activate her second skill to grade down until you resolve the Time Leap part of Chronojet Dragon G’s stride skill. Just be careful with that timing.
  • If you boosting this up using pre-existing units, my best advice would be to wait for future boosts that support the Zodiac Time Beasts build. Right now, the deck itself is best taken apart for other deck builds. Already, the deck is taken apart for a Deus Ex Machina, Demiurge deck, but other decks it can be taken apart and introduced into is a Chronojet Dragon deck, the aforementioned Time Leap deck, Chronoscommand or otherwise, and a Chronofang Tiger deck.
