In this special relay fight, where we pitted Team Traffic Light (Leon’s Overlord the X Kagero, Brian’s Gurguit Gold Paladin and Josephine’s Ahsha Neo Nectar) against Team AL Handsome (JJ’s Amon Dark Irregulars, Ben’s Nightrose Granblue and Jasmine’s Blaster Shadow Paladin deck).

- Generally speaking, this is your well known “Overlord” build with The X, but done so to my own personal liking. Much like others, the goal is to filter your deck until it is left full of critical triggers. But it is not as simple as you’d think it would be.
- Everyone knows how great this deck can be, but instead of retelling them, I will instead talk about the cons that this deck has.
- First off, you don’t have a great choice of G-Guardians purely for defending yourself. Denial Griffin is great and all at retiring attacking rear-guards, but even with Conroe available, you must make sure that you plan your counterblasts so that you can retaliate the next turn. Not only that, but unlike other G-Guardians, he doesn’t get any additional shields, which is one of the biggest problems when G-Guarding.
- On the same topic, Defeat Flare Dragon will not save you unless your opponent decides to attack with the Vanguard during his first attack step. Like Denial Griffin, he doesn’t get any additional shield. Sure, he can hinder your opponent for one turn, but just like Denial Griffin, managing your Counterblasts is another thing to keep track of.
- Lastly, this deck does require some semblance of luck. You need to draw the right cards to handle the situation that you are in. Draw triggers, as of this build, is the only way to get some additional cards to help both offensively and defensively.
- Beyond that, it remains a strong deck that can apply plenty of pressure on your opponent. Combo-wise, the focus is on performing Legion with “the X” as often as you can, and sending your triggers back to the deck with it. Letting the game drag on will benefit you more than your opponent will.
- And before you ask, yes. I chose not to play Supreme Heavenly Emperor Dragon, Dragonic Overlord “the Ace”, simply because of the focus of this deck. It’s only helpful when you are unable to Legion for some reason, which is only in a few rare cases. You can have him in your G Zone if you prefer, but I’m most certain you’ll find that his place in the G Zone becomes less significant the more you play.

- First off, using Golden Dragon, Scourge Point Dragon as my first stride allows me to rush out of the gate with a strong power base. His ability to grant an extra 5000 Power to units that were superior called through unit skills like Gurguit, Henrinus and others can create rear-guard columns with high enough Power to force a 15ooo or 20000 guard, depending on the situation.
- Proviously, I had Knight of Spring’s Light, Perimore as my main caller but now with Henrinus, I can use his skill to call it to another rear-guard instead of in the same column. The additional cost of a Soulblast is negligible.
- I only play one Holy Mage, Lavinia because her Perfect Guard is only activated from hand instead of appearing on the RG unlike Candace and the old-style Perfect Guards. So, she’s not a viable choice to call to the Guardian Circle with Sleimy Flare’s skill. But her other skill that allows me to return her back to my hand on Unite by sending another rear-guard to the bottom of the deck is hard to ignore.
- The combination of Glorious Reigning Dragon (#GLORIOUSBOMB!) and Holsa’s skills is strong, playing to the strength of multiple high-powered attacks. With Holsa pumping 2000 Power to itself (not sure of Holsa’s gender) and the unit in the same column as it when a unit is called, that Power grows exponentially you use Glorious Reigning Dragon’s skill. Combine it with Pwyll and, well, the hike in price for Pwyll becomes a little more justified.
- Marcia and Gerrie remain effective in Countercharging, as well as building up soul for paying Radiant Sword, Gurguit’s skill. That, on top of Glorious Reigning Dragon’s additional ability to Countercharge and Soulcharge adds to it for the final push with Radiant Sword, Gurguit.
- There is not that many changes between this build and the last one, but GBT08 really does help Gold Paladin in a sense with providing multi-attacking in one attack phase, something other clans can also do now. But I hope you guys can create your own ways of your Gold Paladin deck.

- There have been almost no changes made to this deck from the previous build other than the addition of Lisbeth, which has been restricted to one copy, in accordance to tournament rulings, as well as the G-units.
- With the addition of Ilmatar, this deck is gunning towards using Bloom as its focus. However, at the moment changes for that have yet to be made.
- When you work with units that have multiple copies remaining on the field, Verna actually helps to raise your guarding ability as well as preserve the number of cards in hand which could be left to boost your offense.
- The rest of the notes are similar to the previous list, so refer to that for more details.
